The Club
Torquay Golf Club is seeking an outstanding General Manager to lead the Club through the next stage of its development.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving members’ golf club in a strong position, with full membership, an excellent Food & Beverage operation, a vibrant clubhouse atmosphere and an established ten-year course development plan that continues to enhance the quality of the golf course and member experience.
The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced management team, including strong leadership within both Food & Beverage and Course Management, supported by an engaged and forward-looking Board.
We are looking for a General Manager who can provide clear leadership across the Club, develop our commercial opportunities and ensure Torquay Golf Club continues to be a fantastic place to play golf, socialise, work and visit.
The Role
The General Manager will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and commercial performance of the Club, working closely with departmental managers and reporting to the Board. Key responsibilities will include:
-Providing visible, positive and effective leadership across the Club.
– Leading, supporting and developing the management team and staff.
– Delivering an exceptional experience for members, guests and visitors.
– Maintaining clear and effective communication with members, employees and the Board.
– Developing commercial opportunities and driving sustainable revenue and profitability.
– Ensuring strong financial management, budgeting, reporting and operational controls.
– Establishing clear objectives, responsibilities and meaningful performance measures.
– Working closely with the Course Manager to support delivery of the Club’s long-term course development plan.
– Supporting and developing the Club’s successful Food & Beverage operation.
– Ensuring projects and agreed initiatives are progressed effectively and delivered.
– Maintaining the distinctive, welcoming atmosphere that is at the heart of Torquay Golf Club.

We are looking for an accomplished leader with excellent people-management and communication skills. The successful candidate is likely to demonstrate:

– Commercial awareness and financial literacy.
– A proactive, organised and decisive management style.

– The ability to work constructively with a Board while taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Club.
– A track record of improving organisations, teams or customer experiences.
Previous golf-club management experience would be advantageous, but we are equally interested in exceptional candidates from hospitality, leisure, private members’ clubs or other high-quality customer-focused businesses.

Remuneration
An attractive remuneration package is available with an OTE up to £65,000.
No accommodation is provided, but relocation assistance could be available if required.
